On the occasion of 45th OIV Congress

Commandaria wine legacy joins in the OIV Centenary Celebrations. 100 years of challenges, the future at the OIV with advances and organizational ambitions since its founding, confronting the International Organisation of Vine and Wine will be equally challenging in the next century.

Tasting, authenticism

Vineyards planted in remote ages, with strains of vines selected and refined over centuries and styles of wine sanctified by time. The availability of phylloxera-free vines has allowed Cypriot winemakers to nurture traditional bush vine cultivation of Mavro and Xynisteri ancestral grapes, to create distinctive wine like Commandaria, that have contributed to the story of winemaking culture across the ages.

At the OIV Congress in October are programmed a series of side-events in collaboration with the Cyprus Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment as part of Commandaria – 800 years anniversary – that will include Commandaria presentations and tastings as an opportunity to celebrate the 800th year recognition as a valuable testimony to the legendary celebratory wine of Cyprus and a valuable testimony to our common culture.
